What foursquare's Advertising Model Should Look Like
foursquare launched the advertising model it needs, but not the one it deserves
Thursday, April 26, 2012
Last week, foursquare made what might be the most anticipated--and long overdue--announcement of its history. Starting in mid-June, foursquare will be launching a paid advertising opportunity for local businesses. This is a huge step forward for the location-based marketing industry. What Allen & Gerritsen Learned in Austin
Thursday, March 15, 2012
We're biased, of course, but the "big thing at SXSW" for us this year was less about a technology and more about an idea: co-creation -- brands and fans working together to create experiences, content...even shaping the brands themselves.

Shazam: Is it QR All Over Again?
Will Advertisers Ever Learn to Truly Invest in Mobile?
Monday, February 06, 2012
This year on advertising's biggest stage, Shazam was showing off technology that some say will change television forever. Shazam is a mobile application that can recognize audio and serve up information about that audio--or in the case of last night's Super Bowl ads, a branded experience. About 30% of the ads during the big game were Shazam-enabled. But my biggest fear for Shazam is that it will become a marketing malpractice channel just like QR codes.

Why I'm happy to be off an Android Phone
Friday, November 04, 2011
For the past three weeks, I've been downloading apps at breakneck speeds. For the past three weeks, I've been enjoying battery life I didn't know was possible on a smartphone. For the past three weeks, all of my suspicions about Android inferiority have been confirmed.
