We would love for you to apply if: You are, first and foremost, a really good art director. You think of good ideas and you make them beautiful. You don’t have to be a failed or aspiring painter, but you love the art part of art direction. Chances are your apartment is as art directed as your ads. You’re inspired by much more than advertising. You’ve seen every Wes Anderson movie and probably ripped off at least half of them. And as soon as you see a cool layout or piece of architecture or design system or out in the world, you look for a way to use it in your work. Ever seen the New York City Transit System brand book? You dig digital and you’re into modern marketing. You look at the big picture, how marketing connects people and brands. It’s not an ad, it’s an experience! Your drive is to create great work: smart and clever and beautiful. It wins awards and it moves a client’s business. You have an eye art and for ideas. Writers love you because you can write a better line than most of them can. You can criticize a person’s work without being critical of a person. You’re positive, even when you’re saying negative stuff about an edit or an idea. Many incredible art directors are awful leaders, and that’s okay. But that’s not you. You’ve got what it takes to lead teams and projects. You like people. You can own a room. You’ve got charisma, Kid. You are all about the work. But you’re all about the culture of the agency, too. You’re a positive voice in the creative department and the whole agency. You believe we’re all in this together and you believe we’re here to not just help clients move units, but to make the world a better place. Sound like you?
