Manager, Public Relations

Allen & Gerritsen is seeking a rising public relations star to join its Boston office as a Manager, Public Relations. The Manager will be an integral member of a collaborative, award-winning public relations and social media practice that exists within a top independent, full-service advertising agency. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on and meaningful experience at an established agency, and play a leading role with Boston-based clients. This role will work closely with PR team members in Philadelphia as well as departments cross-discipline in both offices.

We want to hear from you if:

  • You’ve worked in agency land for a few years and are eager for a new challenge with a lot of running room to grow an agency and your career.
  • You’re a self-starter and have experience acting autonomously, but you’re still eager to learn from your broader team.
  • You love to write. If somebody asks you to name the top three things you’re really good at, storytelling is on the list. You’ve applied those skills to draft key messaging, press releases, bylines and op-eds.
  • You’re open to not being a specialist; instead, you’ll relish the ability to apply your creativity to a range of accounts, tasks and industries, from consumer to B2B, tourism and hospitality to civil rights and consumer health. Bonus if you have expertise working with clients in issues advocacy, clean energy/sustainability and healthcare categories.
  • You have solid media relationships and can share examples with us of pitches that you’ve converted from smart ideas into secured placements.  
  • You have experience managing social media projects, including community management, influencer relations, content development and measurement and reporting.
  • You have experience managing projects from start to finish, and you instill confidence in your colleagues that you’ll get the job done.
  • You love to consume the news and stay up-to-date with current trends, especially within your clients’ industries.
  • You’re a “glass half full” person who views challenges as great opportunities to grow and move the needle for your clients. 

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as a client contact/relationship manager; manage day-to-day account activities with the support of the broader PR team
  • Actively engage in media relations efforts and build relationships with reporters in key client industries
  • Work with the broader PR team to brainstorm, develop and implement campaign strategies and tactics
  • Oversee account management and client reporting
  • Participate in the new business process
  • Manage interns and associates on account work
