Pic Nix. Cleaning up Instagram feeds one robot-powered post at a time.

Selfies. Sunsets. Sunset Selfies. Not all pictures are worth 1,000 words. This is the story of Pic Nix and the little robot that could.

Human Inspired. Robot Powered.

We programmed a robot to mimic human interaction using the Instagram app on an iPhone. This allowed people to anonymously post captioned photos to Instagram 24/7, while simultaneously allowing us to spare human thumbs.

Easy as 1, 2, 3

To submit a post, visitors to PicNix.co simply had to 1) select or input an Instagram username, 2) choose the offense to call out and then 3) pick one of two pre-populated photo captions. And with the help of a little tech voodoo, our robot created posts in less than two minutes.

All the "Best" Clichés

After scouring the Internet, we compiled a list of the top clichés from a number of somewhat reputable sources. We also added a little caption on each to help drive the point home.

Robots on Robots on Robots

Custom media outreach kits secured coverage in Engadget, Fast Company, PSFK and The Verge (to name a few).

Results

In just 72 hours, Pic Nix generated 53.1 million earned media impressions through publications and social media mentions. 6,000 unique visitors from 109 countries published 1,464 posts.

Stats

We kept tabs on the popularity of each offense submitted through the Pic Nix website. As you can see, Selfies were the clear winner. Or loser.
